Terms & Conditions
By applying for entry into the Event I agree with the MND Association that:
Registration and participation
- Registration must be only be completed by those who will be aged 18 years or over on the date of the Event. 14 – 17 year olds can take part if they are accompanied by their parent or legal guardian but must be signed up by a parent or guardian.
- I understand that the MND Association have the right to refuse registration or application for a place in an Event without providing reasons for doing so and at any time.
- Contact details provided are used to keep you up to date about the event you are taking part in. All details will be stored securely and are used in relation to the event you are taking part in.
- You acknowledge that the MND Association incurs costs as a result of you joining our marathon team e.g. if you have taken a charity place then the cost of this place and also the cost of producing and sending fundraising packs/running vest/fundraising materials. The objective of joining our team is to raise as much money as possible to help us achieve our vision.
- Funds raised through the event will be used to fund the work that we do in order to help us achieve our vision of a world free from MND
- In the event of injury, or if you can no longer take part in the event you must inform us by emailing fundraising@mndassociation.org or calling 01604 611860. We regret that we are unable to refund any registration payments made to us nor can we guarantee a deferral to a future event. Please read our withdrawal policy below.
Charity Runners
- We define a charity place runner as anyone who has obtained a place in the event directly from the MND Association and has committed to raise a minimum sponsorship as a condition of the place (excluding registration fee and gift aid). This should be received by the MND Association within four weeks of the event date.
- Should you wish to raise funds for a Branch or Group then you must first raise the above minimum amount. After this amount is reached we allow for 50% over the minimum fundraising pledge to go to the branch or group of your choice as long as you confirm in writing with us that you would like this to happen and also add a sentence to your online donation page to say funds raised will come to the national office and the specific branch you have selected.
- You will be required to complete your registration on the race organisers online entry system by The deadline date, which will be set by the event organisers. We will provide you with full details of how to do this. If you do not complete the online entry system you will lose your place and you will not be entitled to a refund or a deferral.
- On receipt of payment of the registration fee, you will be sent a welcome pack including your running vest and fundraising support materials. Our team is here to help. We will provide advice and support to help you with your fundraising and to achieve your minimum target.
Withdrawal Policy
- You understand that if for any reason you are unable to participate in the event and wish to withdraw, the MND Association could return any online fundraising donations to the original donor if requested. If you or your sponsors feel that donations should be refunded, your sponsors will need to contact us directly and individually.
- If you have purchased a charity place, we regret that your registration payment cannot be refunded or transferred. You will need to re-apply for a Charity Place (this will not be guaranteed) and you will be required to pay the registration fee and commit to the sponsorship pledge that is set for that year. Deferrals are at our discretion and will not take place automatically.
Event Cancellation
- By agreeing to these terms and conditions you understand that the event may be cancelled due to the ongoing global pandemic.
- In the event that this happens, where possible, we will offer you a place in the same event on a future date. Please note, this is dependent on the terms from the event organisers.
- If we are unable to offer you a place in a future event, we will offer you a place in an alternative event.
- If you are unable to take part in the alternative dates or events that are offered to you, you are entitled to a refund of your registration fee.
- If you are unable to take part in an alternative event, you must advise all those who have donated towards your fundraising target that you are unable to complete your event and that they are entitled to request a refund for their donation if they wish to.
- Should you have your own place in an event via the events company you will need to refer to their T&Cs and follow advice from the event organisers directly.
Fundraising
- You agree to comply with any fundraising guidance or advice issued by the MND Association and abide by the Code of Fundraising Practice issued by the Fundraising Regulator.
- You agree to collect money only on behalf of the MND Association in connection with the Event. You shall communicate this clearly with your supporters
- You agree to use only lawful means to fundraise for the MND Association and will not do anything that harms or is likely to harm the MND Association reputation.
- You agree to not use the MND Association logo without permission and will obtain all fundraising materials from the MND Association.
- All monies that you raise in connection with your place in the Brighton Marathon must be paid to the MND Association within four weeks of the event date. If a deficit to the minimum sponsorship amount remains at this point, we will contact you to discuss plans for paying in the remaining.
- If your application is successful, you will also be required to sign up to and comply with the event rules and terms and conditions. Please note that the MND Association is not responsible for the organisation or management of the marathon event and therefore we shall have no liability for any injury, damage or loss suffered by you when taking part in the event.
You agree that your fundraising will not involve:
- Raising funds by carrying out door-to-door or unsolicited collections.
- Collecting in any public place without first obtaining authorisation from the local authority and any other licences or consent that the MND Association require you to obtain.
- Collecting on private property (including shops, pubs etc) without first obtaining permission of the owner of the private property.
- Conducting any raffle or lottery or putting on any public Event without the required licenses. MND Association can provide advice on what these are.
- Any activities associated with boxing events.
You agree that the MND Association can terminate my authority to fundraise on their behalf at any time by sending written notice to the email or postal address you provide.
Personal data and images
- During the event we may take general photographs and film which may be used for social media, on our website, in the media and in print or digital material as marketing to promote future events. We will ask your permission before taking individual and group photographs of participants but you may sometimes appear in general photographs of crowds and the event setting.
- You give permission for your personal information to be stored and used by the MND Association in connection with the organisation, promotion and administration of this Event and any other Events or promotions offered by the MND Association.
- Contact details provided are used to keep you up to date about the event you are taking part in. We may ask for next of kin details in case of an emergency. All details will be stored securely and are used in relation to the event you are taking part in.
- You give permission for your personal information to be passed on to the Event Organiser by The MND Association for the purposes of the organisation and administration of this Event
- Further information on how the MND Association use and store your data is available to view on the MND Association website within the Privacy policy.
Health, safety and fitness
- The MND Association events team reserves the right to terminate an individual’s entry on health and safety grounds.
- All participants must abide by these rules and any instructions given by event staff or marshals on the day.
- All participants must write the name and number of a person to contact in case of an emergency on the back of your race number on event day. In the case of an emergency, the MND Association may use the emergency contact details you provided to us when you registered for the event.
- The MND Association takes reasonable steps to minimise the risk of injury to all participants during organised events. A risk assessment process is in place for each event this has been created by event organisers. By taking part in an event, you acknowledge that there may be conditions or circumstances beyond our control that can lead to unforeseen risks. If you have any concerns or queries please contact us before agreeing to take part in an event.
- You acknowledge that you have read and will abide by the organisers terms and conditions.
- You agree to fully prepare yourself for the physical challenge of the Event and check with your doctor to ensure that you are medically fit to participate in the Event.
- Emergency first aid is provided at all events. Participants consent to their details (which will be obtained by medical providers if participants are treated by them at an event) being passed to the MND Association. The MND Association will only use these details for administration and health and safety purposes and to fulfil its legal obligations, including those under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
