Family Fun Day

What is the family fun day? 

The family fun day takes place on Saturday, formally known as the Cardiff Half Junior. There are lots of acitivites for children to get involved in including: 

  • Toddler Dash: A fun 50m dash aimed at children aged three and under
  • Future Challengers: A 1-mile race for club athletes and competitive runners aged between 8-17 years looking to race
  • Fun Run: A fun 2.4K race for all the family, with no pressure on setting fast times or running all the way around. Accompanying adults welcome! (and required to run with all children under 8)
  • Activities & Entertainment: Throughout the day there will be an exciting mix of come and try sports and family entertainment – so, even if those not taking part can get involved!

Are you attending the family fun day?

Yes! We will be in the charity village on Saturday from 10am with lots of #TeamMND activities for kids. Please come along and see us, bring your family and meet your teammates!  

Saturday pub meet

Where and when is the Saturday pub meet taking place?

The Cardiff and Vale branch have organised a social meet at the Pen and Wig pub from 2pm on Saturday 5 october! Join them for a pre race get together and meet your team mates.

Is the pub accesible? 

Yes, there is wheelchair access through the beer garden at the back of the pub on park lane. For more information, please visit their website.

Will there be food and drink? 

You are welcome to purchase food and drink from the bar. It is reccomend that you book a table if there is a group of you that would like to eat, to ensure you get a slot! You can book here.

Sunday cheer points

Where are the #TeamMND cheer points?


The Cardiff and Vale Branch have organised a team of cheerers to be at the following locations. Look out for the orange and blue branding!

Start - Castle Street - Roughly between the start line and the junction with Cathedral Rd.

1.5km - Leckwith - junction of Sloper Rd and Penarth Rd 

6km - Penarth - On the road leading down to Tesco and Terra Nova Way

10km - Roald Dahl Plas - Cardiff Bay.

15km - Blenheim Road, Roath - near Albany Baptist Church.

19km - Roath Park - Lake Rd West near Beatty Avenue.

20.5km - Cathays Terrace.

Please note, all distance markers are approximate and locations will vary slightly depending on the volume of supporters at that spot.

Please do encourage your friends and family to join one of the cheer points.

Can my supporters join a cheer point? 

Yes, please do encourage them to join one of the cheer points. The more people cheering, the better experience for our runners! Cheer sticks will be provided.

Will there be any photographers on route? 

Yes, the #TeamMND photographer will be positioned at our 10km cheer point at Roald Dahl Plass. Don't forget to smile!

There will also be official photographers along the route.

Post race celebration

Where is the #TeamMND post race celebration?

We will be ready and waiting in the Event Village on City Hall Lawns to celebrate your acheievement with you!

Find us at one of the charity tents with lots of well deeserved drinks and refreshments. Bring your friends and family along and celebrate with your fellow runners.

Can my friends and family enter the Event Village? 

Yes, the Event Village is the perfect meeting point to reunite with friends and family after the race. Bring them along to our charity tent and enjoy a well deserved cuppa and a chocolate bar!
