What is a London Marathon charity place?

A #TeamMND London Marathon charity place is a place in the event that you have secured through the MND Association.

To secure a place, you must apply and if your application is successful, you will be asked to pay a £75 registration fee and raise a minimum of £2700 to support the fight against MND.

Applications for 2025 closed on 20 May 2024 and all our places have now been offered. You can join the waiting list to hear if more places become avaiable here.

Why is there an application process?

We have a limited number of places available in the London Marathon, therefore we run an application process which we then use to offer our charity places.

The application consists of a number of questions relating to why you want to run for #TeamMND and your fundraising plans, which are reviewed using a scoring system to make it as fair as possible.

I use a wheelchair, can i apply?

Unfortunately, we are unable to allocate our charity places to paticipants in wheelchairs who require assistance on the course. This is due to the event organiser's restriction on numbers. Please apply in the ballot for assisted places which will open in the summer (date tbc).

However, if you are planning to take part in a self propelled wheelchair that adheres to the event guidelines, we can accept your application.

I'm not sure i'll be able to raise the minimum sponsorship.

We'd ask that you only accept one of our limited charity places if you are confident you can meet the minimum sponsorship requirement of £2,700. This includes raising £750 before 31 October 2024. We will help and support you in achieving your target by providing fundraising materials and plenty of fundraising tips, advice and support. We'll also connect you with your London Marathon teammates and encourage you to share ideas.
