What is a tandem jump like?

A Tandem skydive lets you experience free fall without the need for lots of training. You will free fall normally from at least 10,000 feet with the parachute being opened at 5,000 feet. You then get to float down the last mile with your instructor to a soft landing. This is the perfect experience for your first-time jump as you are attached to an instructor who does all of the work for you. This leaves you free to enjoy the view!

Can I take part with a medical condition?

In most cases the airfields will allow anyone with a medical condition to jump as long as they have written consent from their doctor – this may vary per airfield. Find out more about how to declare a medical condition here.

Can I take part with accessibility needs?

Each airfield will try their best to accommodate any accessibility needs, but due to some many varying factors (instructors available, type of plane, weather being a few) they cannot set out what these accommodations are. Please get in contact with Skyline detailing your needs and preferred airfields and they will work with the airfields to see if it's possible for you to participate based on your abilities. You may be asked to go to the airfield for a risk assessment before booking.

If you need support with this, please get in touch with fundraising@mndassociation.org and we will do our best to help.

Will the weather conditions affect my jump?

The one aspect of the day that is out of our control is definitely the weather - if the forecast is looking bad in the days leading up to the jump, you may be contacted by the airfield to reschedule. However feel free to contact the airfield yourself to ask about whether the jump will be going ahead.

    What do I wear?

The airfield will provide you with a jumpsuit on the day. You just need to wear comfortable clothing underneath and suitable tie up shoes (trainers or something similar would be ideal). We recommend layering up on a colder day and wear ski gloves (optional).

If you are a glasses or contact lenses wearing, you can also wear both of these. The airfields will have a range of goggles made to fit over glasses.

What time do I need to arrive at the airfield for?

Your arrival time at the airfield would have been sent to you in your confirmation email. It is usually between 8am and 9am. Please note that we cannot provide a jump time as it is weather dependent.

What happens when I arrive at the airfield?

After a brief 20-minute training session you will be ready to skydive. You will be kitted up and then head to the aircraft. Once you have boarded the aircraft it will only take around 15-20 minutes to reach skydiving altitude. You will free fall from at least 10,000 feet with the parachute being opened at 5,000 feet after you have experienced around 1 minute of free fall. You then get to enjoy the last mile under canopy with your instructor, taking in the spectacular views before a soft landing back at the airfield.

Can I bring supporters on the day?

Yes, you can bring along supporters! We would recommend that they arrive with you.

    Can I record my skydive?

Unfortunately the airfields do not allow you to use your own recording equipment for the jump - however you can purchase filming from most airfields on the day.

Each airfield offers different filming and photography packages and costs vary across the
different airfields so please check out the Prices and Locations page to find an airfield near you and see what packages they offer and what the cost will be.

For most airfields you can book and pay for filming on the
day but a few do require you to pre-book if you want your jump to be recorded. You will be informed once booked if your airfield requires you to pre-book for recording.
